My house growing up, circa 1986

For as long as I can remember, my dad has put gardens all around his houses. He loved working outside and growing beautiful plants. Later in life, he started growing plants to sell. I didn't fully appreciate his green thumb until the last 6 months of his life.

He was diagnosed with ALS in 2014 and given 3 years to live. He died in Feb 2017. I spent a lot of time with him his last 6 months working in his nursery area, trying to absorb as much knowledge from him as I could. I ended up purchasing his supplies/plants from him before he passed. God bless my husband! He is so patient with me and willing to go along with whatever crazy thing I throw at him.

Next thing my husband knew, I was shoving as many plants as I could into our 2 car garage. I set up a succulent propragation station in my home office. We lived in a small patio home with a little backyard. Where there's a will, there's a way! My wonderful husband built me a greenhouse on one side of the backyard and my business was off and running.

I spent the next few years selling plants and doing landscaping for quite a few regular customers. However, in 2022 I was approached by a company to be a District Manager with a territory covering 5 states. At the time, my husband and I had a very successful lawn care/landscaping company but we were having a hard time hiring people and keeping them. (Post-covid hiring crisis is ridiculous!) He told me he was thinking about scaling back and retiring soon and I should consider taking the job, so I did.

No regrets - the job has been good for me, but I am gone a lot more than I want to be and I am ready to get back to running a nursery. My passion is digging my hands into the dirt and seeing what beautiful things I can produce...with God's blessings of course. :-)
